In this day and age, there are topics that are simply too taboo to talk about. In bygone times in our nation, those subjects usually had to do with bodily functions and other topics which you’d feel uncomfortable talking to your parents about.
Now, though, the subjects that you can’t talk about include disagreements over political positions (apparently, disagreeing words are violence), whether gender is biology or social theory, and, maybe, the worst taboo in this day and age is… gasp!…
Yes, questioning vaccines can lose you friends, ruin relationship, and, even, get you banned from Twitter. Yes, even if you’re a liberal who served in Bill Clinton’s White House. No kidding. Jack Phillips writes,
Former Bill Clinton adviser and author Naomi Wolf, who has been critical of vaccine passports and media coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, has been suspended from Twitter, according to the social media company.
Twitter told media outlets that Wolf, who authored the book “The Beauty Myth,” was suspended because, according to the company, she shared misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.
Company officials didn’t immediately respond to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.
When attempting to access Wolf’s account on Twitter, it displays the typical boilerplate message: “Account suspended … Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules.” She had amassed more than 140,000 followers over the years.
While some prominent verified Twitter users applauded the move and claimed it was needed because Wolf allegedly foisted “anti-vaccine” claims, some said Twitter’s move is further evidence of social media platforms’ chilling effect on free speech.
While I doubt that any political liberals will have the… uh… courage… to take Twitter to task for this, political conservatives showed the consistency of principle which you tend to see in conservatives. Again, from Phillips:
“Anyone who loves freedom, including Naomi Wolf, needs to realize the Left is now the enemy of freedom,” conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza wrote on Twitter.
Still, I don’t expect that the leftist fan boys and girls running Twitter will see the light until the Federal government dismantles the company for their blatant censorship. And with the current administration, I don’t see that happening any time soon.
